I didn't know, until I heard it from Alexi Filippenko, and read it in Wikipedia that :
"A geomagnetic reversal is a change in the orientation of Earth's magnetic field such that the positions of magnetic north and magnetic south become interchanged." It really does happen.
Why didn't someone tell me this before? Why did I have to wait 63 years to find it out? I suppose there's a bunch of other stuff out there I don't know.

I'm sorry, Connie. I meant to tell you; it slipped my mind.
ReplyDeleteWhen you are done with Filippenko there are some really good geology lectures by someone nearly as good as Mr. A.F.. If you are nice they could find their way to the land of blue. There is really good rock crystal evidence of the poles switching.
Oh Peter, you are the sweetest, most generous cousin I have. I know I would love geology. I spent many a time sifting through the gravel in our driveway trying to find unusual rocks. I think I still have one or two stashed in one of my dresser drawers. Okay, what do have to do to be nice?
